Type of grants funded by InsectAI:

Networking Activities in COST supported by a Grant Awarding Process include mobility grants and conference grants.

Within the mobility category, InsectAI awards only Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSM) grants to visit a host organization located in a country different from the applicant’s country of affiliation. STSMs allow researchers to work on specific projects for a given period, providing a unique opportunity to expand horizons and make significant contributions to the scientific objectives of the COST InsectAI Action (consult CA22129 InsectAI MoU). The minimum duration of a mission is 5 working days, and it needs to be carried out in a single period, with up to a maximum of 4,000 € support. To apply, you must submit a comprehensive work plan, including estimated budget expenditures, describe main results expected, and mention future follow-up activities.  

 InsectAI Conference grants support attendance to high-level conferences organised by third parties, within the scope of this Action. Grants support up to a maximum of 2 500 € for physical and 500 € for online events and include three grant types: 

  • Inclusiveness Target Country (ITC), funding oral presentation of applicant own work within the scope of the Action by an Action Participant affiliated to a legal entity located in an Inclusiveness Target Country (find list of ITC countries here) / Near Neighbour Country (find list of NNC countries here), or find the COST full Country list here.
  • Young Research and Innovator (YRI), funding a presentation (poster/oral) of their own work (a YRI is under the age of 40, includes the duration of the year you turn 40).
  • Dissemination (DCG) Conference Grants fund oral presentation by an Action Participant of the work of the Action. 

How to apply for InsectAI grants: 

  1. Before applying to any grant, ensure you join our InsectAI Action if you are not already a member! You can find instructions on the “join us” page.
  2. Ensure you have read the and meet the Criteria for Grant Award selection.
  3. COST provides general guidance to applicants for any type of grant, which you must consult before submitting your proposal.
  4. If applying to an STSM, check if the InsectAI working groups had identified scientific priorities for the period you are applying.
  5. If applying to an STSM, before preparing your proposal, get in touch with InsectAI COST Action members with matching research interests to check their availability to collaborate and host your STSM. You can discover the InsectAI participants here.
