WG1 Societal Needs

WG 1 focuses on engaging diverse stakeholders using participatory approaches to ensure technological advances benefit a wide range of end-users. This involves collaboratively prioritizing societal needs that image-based insect AI technologies can address and guiding the development of effective dissemination resources. Key objectives include documenting critical questions in insect research and monitoring, particularly those related to policy needs, and prioritizing those that can be addressed by these technologies. The WG aims to increase understanding of the needs of researchers and citizen scientists, assess the benefits of new tools, and ensure effective dissemination and communication to maximize technology uptake. This comprehensive action plan includes identifying stakeholders, mapping their knowledge, prioritizing research themes, aligning technologies with societal needs, addressing gaps and barriers, and showcasing outputs through strategic communication.

WG 1 will focus on the needs of all stakeholders, using participatory approaches to ensure that the outputs of the technological advances (WGs 2-4) are relevant and benefit as many end-users as possible. The WG will collaboratively prioritize societal needs that will benefit from image-based insect AI technologies (WG2- 4). The WG will guide the development of dissemination resources to ensure the effective transfer of knowledge between the Action and stakeholders.
