WG3 Image Processing

WG 3 will focus on processing images for insect AI by addressing four main areas: collecting and curating annotated training data, advancing algorithm robustness, developing metadata standards for AI model outputs, and specifying infrastructure for running and sharing models. The objectives are to establish standards for data storage and sharing, align workflows across AI insect recognition projects, and advance robust models for insect detection and classification.

Key tasks include developing metadata standards for annotated images and AI outputs, creating efficient workflows for annotated datasets, designing a framework for sharing AI models, and supporting algorithm development through interdisciplinary hackathons. These efforts aim to ensure standardized, high-quality data and tools for consistent species identification and integration with other technologies.
